Carbon Capture and Storage

Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is being sold as a (something) solution by being a method of reducing carbon from industrial CO2 emission, but there is more than meets the eye with this risky practice. The benefits of CCS are being posed without adequate acknowledgement of the significant drawbacks and environmental concerns. There are currently no carbon capture and storage systems that are successful in capturing more than it consumes. There are also serious safety concerns when it comes to the transportation of captured CO2.  Carbon capture and storage distract from the ultimate goal of rapidly reducing emissions, by pulling both funding and research resources away from clean energy.
