Polluters Pay Youth Walkout Adult Mentor Training

On October 24th, young people across California will host school walkouts to say: “Youth Demand Climate Action!” and pressure legislators to support the Polluters Pay Climate Superfund, a California bill that would make the largest fossil fuel polluters pay for the climate damages they’ve caused. By filling out this form, we can connect you with youth who expressed interest in planning at their school, and resources to assist them in their planning process!
This role would start with attending an adult mentor training on Tuesday, September 9th from 6-7pm. You would then get paired with youth leaders at a middle school, high school, or college in your area and you would work with them one-on-one to provide guidance, mentorship, and help with anything they need to plan their walkout. This could include helping them with a timeline, outreach, supplies, logistics, negotiating with their school administration, and anything else they need help with. It would be around a 1-2 hour time commitment per week depending on the needs of your student mentee, with likely more help needed closer to October 24th.
