FFCA Book Club: The Nerd Reich: Silicon Valley Fascism and the War on Democracy Part 1
October 21 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
We will read the book over two meetings. For the first we will be reading Chapters 1-4. The second meeting will be Wednesday Nov 18th from 7-8:30pm
The Nerd Reich is a 2026 non-fiction book by American journalist Gil Durán, who argues that some venture capitalists in Silicon Valley use technologies such as cryptocurrency and artificial intelligence to undermine democracy in the United States in an attempt to establish a new form of governance resembling a corporate dictatorship. To mitigate these threats, Durán suggests banning crypto, identifying network state proposals as anti-government extremism, breaking up tech monopolies, and regulating AI.
