Imagery of the Amazon burning lately has seared a resolution into me… These wildfires, which are but one of the starkest examples of the devastating effects of climate change, illuminate the urgent need for powerful, collective action on what will easily be the defining issue of the century.
You may be wondering what you can do besides donating and educating yourself on the topic. Well, the youth have got us covered. Greta Thunberg and other youth climate activists around the world have been working hard to organize a Global Climate Strike on Friday, September 20, with an incendiary message for world leaders and corporations: Time is running out. We need to act fast, and we need to act now.
The climate strike will begin at 10 AM and will depart from the SF Federal Building at 90 7th Street, San Francisco, CA 94103 where Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s office is located. The march will weave through the city, stopping at points where key policy makers, public officials, and corporations in the fossil fuel industry are located. It will last until 5 PM, and you can expect speakers, lots of signs, and lots of passion. Here is a list of public bathrooms along the route.
We’re excited to march alongside you. Dress warmly, and see you there.
