UPDATE: NEW LOCATION: Youth v. Apocalypse Round 1: Community Expression v. Corruption
May 17 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
NOTE: Venue Change now is back at The Rotunda Bldg.
On May 17th Phil Tagami was going to host the 2018 EBIA Innovator Awards on behalf of his children’s school, East Bay Innovation Academy (EBIA). Because of this protest we are planning, the School first decided to distance themselves from Tagami by moving the site and now have decided to cancel the event entirely (as of the 16th). Tagami is trying to build his export coal terminal and so now we are going to hold our protest back at The Rotunda Building.
Tagami’s on-going efforts to build a massive coal terminal is draining Oakland of its resources, and threatening our health and climate with a toxic disaster, while targeting a predominantly low-income community of color with environmental injustice.
The Power of Youth Has the Power Holders on the Run! Our Youth Will Not Stop Until the Coal Terminal Is Stopped! We Call On Tagami to Stop His Coal Plans and on the City to Protect All Our Youth from Environmental Violence!
Join Youth Vs. Apocalypse at the Rotunda Bldg. to make our voices heard with drumming, chanting, youth performance and live art.
We need innovators who help our city, not destroy it. We want all youth voices to be more heard. We want a thriving earth, equal rights, kindness, compassion and common sense. We say no to environmental racism, no to police racism, and no to climate chaos.
Be prepared to stay a little late Come for what you can!
Who can go? Anyone, Youth strongly encouraged!
Whom to contact? Carolyn@350BayArea.org
What can you do? SPREAD THE WORD! We need people to participate and perform in our community showcase. You can showcase poetry, music, dance, chanting, a speech, etc. We are Innovators for Justice!
