Climate Emergency Declaration & Fossil Free Resolution

June 8 @ 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Please make your calendar, this is a call to action. Show your support for two upcoming climate resolutions by making your voice heard at the Berkeley City Council Meeting on June 12th at 6pm.

350 Bay Area and 350 East Bay need your help in Berkeley now!

The Berkeley City Council will consider two resolutions at its meeting June 12. One will declare a climate emergency threatening our city, region, state, nation, civilization, humanity and the natural world; it calls for a Bay Area collaborative effort, including a regional climate emergency townhall meeting to address the climate crisis. The second will substantially further Berkeley’s goal of 80% elimination of greenhouse gases (GHGs) by 2050 to 100% elimination of GHGs by 2030. For Direct Link: https://www.cityofberkeley.info/Clerk/City_Council/2018/06_June/Documents/2018-06-12_Item_49_Declaration_of_Climate_Emergency.aspx

Show your support for climate resolutions by making your voice heard at the City Council Meeting on June 12th at 6pm.

Reversing global warming and restoring a safe and stable climate requires an emergency mobilization to reach zero greenhouse gas emissions across all sectors at wartime speed, to rapidly and safely drawdown or remove all the excess carbon from the atmosphere.

Berkeley and other cities must say no to new or expanded fossil fuel projects and move more rapidly to 100% clean energy and 100% elimination of greenhouse gases. The climate crisis needs full community participation and support; the citizens of Berkeley, the Berkeley Climate Action Coalition, the Ecology Center, and other community organizations will be integral to the mobilization effort. The resolutions are part of the Fossil Free campaign by 350.org aiming to push for real climate leadership at the Global Climate Action Summit in San Francisco in September.
