Berkeley City Council Hearing on Critical Climate Ordinance
Tuesday, July 16 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
There is an important climate impactful proposal soon to be heard at the Berkeley City Council. We wanted you all to know about, so that you might be mobilized to turn out to support it. It is an Ordinance that will add a new chapter (19.84) to the Berkeley Municipal Code, which will prohibit Natural Gas Infrastructure in New Buildings.
Please come to the hearing on the ordinance on July 16th, NOT THE 9th, even though the City website looks like it’s going to be heard on the 9th. This is not correct. We want to demonstrate that Berkeley cares about being a climate leader. Berkeley will lead the way in building decarbonization. Please come, bring signs, give public testimony!
As a reminder, individuals are given 1 minute for public comment, but other speakers in attendance can yield their time. If you are passionate about passing the ordinance but do not have much to say about it except “obviously this is the right thing to do; please pass it!” please consider attending the meeting and yielding your time.
