Keep it Real – Air District Board Retreat
January 17 @ 9:45 am - 5:00 pm
The Bay Area Air Quality Management District Board’s annual retreat sets their agenda for the year. Come to the meeting to listen, and provide public comment if you choose. Make sure the People’s Agenda is the BAAQMD Agenda: Push for aggressive climate action; Halt refinery expansions; Reform the Air District’s permit rules.
Objectives for the coming year:
- Push for aggressive implementation of all commitments made in the Air District’s 2017 Clean Air Plan/Regional Climate Protection Strategy that will achieve the deepest greenhouse gas emission reductions, and cut harmful co-pollutants to protect the climate and the health of Bay Area residents.
- Continue to press for caps on refinery emissions, and bring a halt to fossil fuel expansion projects.
- Reform the Air District’s permitting rules to fully incorporate GHG emissions, incorporate clean alternate technologies and fuel switching to reduce emissions, and bring an end to pollution trading of particulate emissions.
On the January 17th the Bay Area Air Quality Management District Board will begin the year under new leadership and an updated agenda. We welcome incoming Chair David Hudson (San Ramon City Council Member) Vice Chair Katie Rice (Marin County Supervisor) and Secretary Rod Sinks (Cupertino Vice Mayor) and look forward to productive, collaborative work with both the Air District Board and staff.
RSVP and show up January 17 to let Board members know what you think their 2018 priorities should be.
