It’s February, 2021. Let’s talk about Novato Costco’s proposed Mega-Gas Station. Join us next Wednesday, Feb. 17th for the discussion.
Just three months ago, the Novato City Council passed a resolution declaring that the city recognizes we all face a Climate Emergency. It committed to strategize on ways Novato could rapidly reduce its greenhouse gas emissions to combat the crisis. And now, we have an early opportunity to see whether Novato’s citizens and their council support the city’s stated commitment to address the climate crisis, or whether they are actually determined to move forward with ‘business as usual’ by putting cheap gas and business tax revenue ahead of their stated commitment to fight climate change. Right now, the city is being asked to approve a new Costco Mega-Gas station at Rowland Plaza. Many residents believe this station is completely unneeded, given the multiple gas stations very nearby, that it is detrimental environmentally, and is a climate step in the wrong direction. What do you think?
Do you want to find out more before you decide on this issue? Would you like to discuss the trade-offs? Silke Valentine, who’s been organizing opposition against the gas station’s approval will present detailed information on the project in our Community Conversation next Wednesday. Join us! We’d love to hear what you have to say. The zoom meeting is from 6:30-7:30pm next Wednesday, February 17th. All are welcome!
We hope to see you online! Please RSVP below to get the link to attend:
