SUMMARY:Still No Coal in Oakland!
DESCRIPTION:A community meeting in West Oakland will include a short history of our decade-long campaign\, updates about the current situation regarding a proposed coal terminal on West Oakland’s waterfront\, brainstorming in small groups about how we can make sure a coal terminal is never imposed on the West Oakland community\, and what you can do now to oppose would-be coal developers’ dystopian vision. This is a chance for residents to mobilize together to keep a dangerous pollutant out of the neighborhood.

SUMMARY:Intro to Grassroots Campaigning for Climate Action
DESCRIPTION:In the climate fight\, people power is our biggest asset! However\, it is not always easy to know how to use your voice to bring lasting political change. To bridge this gap between passion and action\, 350 Bay Area is organizing a policy teach-in for SF Climate Week. This workshop will equip you with the tools to engage with and advocate for environmental change. \nJoin us for an exciting presentation and workshop to: \n\n\nLearn about the Make Polluters Pay campaign \n\n\nGet involved in grassroots climate organizing \n\n\nMake friends in the climate space! \n\n\nEnjoy some delicious (vegan) snacks & refreshments \n\n\nThe Make Polluters Pay campaign is an initiative to hold the largest fossil fuel companies financially accountable for the damage they cause to California’s environment. 350 Bay Area is one of many groups advocating for this crucial climate policy. \nThis workshop is organized by 350 Bay Area’s mobilizing team. We are a group of youth and young adults who take tangible and collective climate action\, raise awareness\, and advocate for climate solutions. \nWhile our team is youth-led\, we invite folks of all ages to join us for an afternoon of collective learning and movement-building! \nThis event is free and open to the public. By registering for this event\, you agree to share your registration information with the organizers of SF Climate Week.
