About Us
350 San Francisco works on a variety of climate initiatives. The primary generators of greenhouse gases in San Francisco are building operations (like heating) and transportation. We are working on converting both of those to renewable power:
- All-electric housing: A major climate goal is to replace the methane (“natural” gas) used to heat water and buildings with renewable electricity. We helped get San Francisco to pass ordinances to make new buildings all electric. Now we are pushing for funds to get methane out of existing houses as well. For example, the city’s Climate Equity Hub will advise San Franciscans on building electrification. We helped the Hub get some budget funding, though money is still needed. Also, we have been advocating for city funds to be used to rehabilitate and electrify existing affordable housing.
- Infrastructure for electric vehicles: We want to make switching from a gas-powered car to an electric one convenient and accessible to all. Charging infrastructure is critical to help this For example, we are commenting on a current feasibility study that will look at where best to put charging stations in the city.
- More and better public transit: We are working to publicize and build support for transit funding; for example, we distributed stickers celebrating Transit Equity Day, and participated in the City Hall kickoff rally for Transit Month.
- 100% Clean electricity: 350 SF helped bring about CleanPowerSF, which provides renewable energy to San Francisco households. We are now urging the SF Public Utilities Commission to power up CPSF to provide the large amount of 100% clean, renewable electricity the city will need as we electrify.
- Public Bank: This is an exciting program that could help finance the changes we need to make for sustainability. The Supervisors have approved a proposal for a San Francisco Municipal Finance Corporation. Next step: a Supervisor needs to propose forming one, a long process during which we’ll have many chances to support a transparent, flexible ‘green bank’.
- Newsletter: Our newsletter team has a lively and informative biweekly bulletin that lets people know about near-term actions they can take to build sustainability, as well as local events and various articles and other items of interest.
- Outreach– Tabling and similar activities give us a chance to talk directly to people, still the most effective way to convince them.

Help Put SF to Work!
We’ve helped bring about 100% clean electricity, some decarbonization and other steps but the city has a long way to go in an alarmingly short time. Come and plan how we and our allies push the town to get on the equity bus and off fossil fuels…
