Join Us in Sacramento Wednesday
July 12 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
We’re going to Sacramento on Wednesday — can you join us?
This is a critical week in California as all bills must be finished with Policy Committee review by Friday, & the legislature is considering a groundbreaking clean energy bill & is facing a huge power move by the fossil fuels industry.
- SB 100 is the clean energy bill that would require that California get all of its electrical power from 100% clean energy by 2045. SB100 has an important hearing in Sacramento on Wednesday at 1:30pm, so we’re going to show support.
- AB 398 is a bill that revises cap & trade. It just came out, & it’s our worst nightmare. It has to be stopped. We need to flood the Senate hearing Wednesday at 9:30 AM in Room 3191 of the State Capitol Building.
If you’ve ever thought of going with us to Sacramento, this is a great time to do it! Our 350 Bay Area legislative committee is organizing car pools from North Berkeley BART Wednesday, leaving at 7:15am and returning around 4pm (this is an estimate as sometimes hearings go longer than scheduled). We’ll be going to the hearing on AB 398 and then go to the Utilities and Energy Committee hearing. The SB 100 hearing is in the Utilities and Energy Committee at the State Capitol, Room 444, at 2:00pm. (note time and room change.)
On Thursday July 13, SB 100 will be heard in the Assembly Natural Resources Committee in Room 447, upon adjournment of session.
As time permits, we’ll also be visiting offices between hearings to talk to legislators.
The AB 398 effort includes members of the BAAQMD Coalition (which 350 BA is part of), Sunflower Alliance and environmental justice allies. http://www.sunflower-
* Cal FACT —California’s for a Carbon Tax- is doing a lobby day on Wednesday to support SB 775 – an alternative proposal to extend a price on carbon that address a lot of the problems with the current program. http://calfact.org (see JOIN LOBBY DAY)
